Porcupine Ridge / Tranquille Bonaparte Plateau

The primary riding area for the Kamloops Snowmobile Association is Porcupine Ridge and the Tranquille Bonaparte Plateau. Featuring thousands of hectares of sub-alpine off trail boondocking and low slope terrain, nine warm up shelters, and numerous groomed trail loops. This region is safe for families to access and has a low to zero avalanche danger. Average elevations between 4500 and 6000 feet, with many meadow complexes to explore and get away from tracks.

Snowshoeing

From mid-December to end of March, the hills within The Lower North Thompson are blanketed in snow that provides dozens of trailheads to snowshoe uplands forests and open spaces. Pack a thermos of hot chocolate and make a day out of it or break a snowy trail in an afternoon under bluebird skies. Trust us, there are plenty of areas to trek through!

Ice Fishing

There are several resorts and operators that are open year-round. That means more time to fish! The thought of fresh caught burbot lures many an ice fishing enthusiast to Peaceful Cove Resort on Lac des Roche. Heffley Lake is stocked yearly with Kamloops rainbow trout. That’s all the more reason to get out on the ice at the Hitch N Rail Resort. Knouff Lake Resort is open all year long and is a great place to create fishing memories at any time of year.

Many of the smaller lakes in the area are perfect for ice fishing. Please check local conditions and ice thickness before heading out on the ice.
