Visitors can ski powder at family-friendly Sun Peaks Resort, golf, ride cowboy-style at Jandana Ranch, head to Barriere for a rodeo or join the annual Kamloopa Powwow, one of the largest celebrations of Indigenous culture and heritage.

Summer Adventure

Summer in the Thompson Valley is very warm with over 2000+ hours of sunshine. Most of the lakes here get very warm, and when you aren’t fishing in them, be sure to pack your bathing suit so you can dive in to cool off. Find options for the whole family with amazing hiking trails and mountain biking in the back country or at bike ranch trails, or hop on a horse for the first time and wee the rugged mountains through horseback. And don’t forget the sunscreen!

Indigenous Experience

The Tk‘emlúpsemc, ‘the people of the confluence’, now known as the Tk’emlúps te Secwe̓pemc are members of the Interior-Salish Secwepemc (Shuswap) speaking peoples of British Columbia. The Shuswap or Secwepemc (pronounced suh-Wep-muhc) people occupy a vast territory of the interior of British Columbia. This traditional territory stretches from the Columbia River valley along the Rocky Mountains, west to the Fraser River, and south to the Arrow Lakes. Most Secwepemc people live in the river valleys.
